This isn't your grandma's eyewear boutique! I now have a variety of wonderful, prescription eyeglasses and shades from this amazing place. I had never experienced total customization of my eyeglasses before coming to Outer Vision. There's nothing like it ... I chose color combinations for my hand selected frames along with accents on the frames. I was expertly fitted by the knowledgeable and friendly owner, Phyllis, and when my (now several) custom glasses were received, not even a tweak adjustment was necessary! In addition to the customized eyewear, Phyllis has a selection of frames, ranging from sedate to the not sedate ... you won't see your frames/glasses everywhere on the street! If you want to look fabulous in your glasses, Outer Vision is the place to go!! The selection is unlike what you will find in your regular eyeglass store, ranging from classic to funky. Glasses/sunglasses come in every shape and color and some even with beautiful stonework (which can also be custom made)! Not only is the product great, but you won't find the personalized service as you will when you are with Phyllis. She will work with you one on one and fit you for the perfect pair of glasses for your face and for your style. I now have 3 pairs of glasses from her and one pair gets more compliments than the next! I won't walk out of the house without a pair of Outer Vision glasses on and either should you!!

If you are looking for glasses and want something unique, you must stop in to Outer Vision. You will see frames you rarely see anywhere else, even in NYC. I bought a pair of Kata's, in a shade of green half rimless and have been stopped numerous times asking where I bought them. Same thing happened with my Tom Davies.
Though, what is most special about Outer Vision is its owner, Phyllis. She knows more about this business then anyone I've ever met. I previously visited 12 stores around town. All of the salespeople had no idea about fit and function. I would ask them specific questions about lens and frame materials and felt I knew more than they did. Phyllis, on the other hand must have wrote the book on eyewear. She really knows her stuff. She won't sell you junk. She won't sell you something that doesn't fit right. She won't sell you a pair you will find in Lenscrafters. She is a real New Yorker and not afraid to say the truth. So don't be surprised if you try something on and she says that looks horrible on you! I tested her with something I knew didn't look good on me and when I told her I liked this one and wanted to buy it, she wouldn't sell it to me.
She may not have the biggest selection but it will be different and unique. If that is what you are looking for, call her up and make an appointment. And, don't be surprised if someone stops and asks where you found those glasses.

Don't be deceived by the lack of a fancy storefront. Phyllis is very knowledgeable and takes the time to go through a number of different frame and lens styles to meet your needs. She specializes in eyewear from Tom Davies, a London designer whose claim to fame is "bespoke" (i.e. custom made) eyewear. I'm a longtime customer of Tom, and the combination of his designs and Phyllis' eye should make for a satisfied customer.

Phyllis is the "doyenne of eyeglass design"! Outer Vision could have been named Phyllis Vision as it is her style and years of experience that ensures the correct fit, shape, style and color. If she cannot find a soigné frame from her large inventory, she can custom make anything in six weeks in England using the latest computerized technology. Purple matte finish, no problem. Horn glasses to match the pair your great-grandfather wore; how many pairs? Great find. It doesn't get better than this.
